Welcome at Mühldorfer

Mühldorfer has been producing quality bedding in Haidmühle in the Bavarian Forest national park for almost 100 years. It supplies discerning customers around the world with the finest quality feather pillows and duvets.

It all started in 1920 when Sidonie Mühldorfer began to make goose feathers into quality pillows and duvets. As a location, Haidmühle still offers ideal conditions. Processing the goose down in pure, calcium-free mountain spring water ensures outstanding quality.

The company’s rapid rise to global supplier of exclusive major customers really started at a hotel trade fair in the United Arab Emirates in 1999 with an order to supply the new Burj Al Arab. Other orders from around the world soon followed.

Since then, the family company has grown into a global supplier of down duvets and pillows to the top-class hotel industry. Mühldorfer has around 50 employees and focuses on its principal sales markets of Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Sidonie Mühldorfer founded the business in 1919 in Haidmühle in the Bavarian Forest, close to the Czech border. When she registered the company in the Commercial Register under the name of her husband, Matthäus M. Mühldorfer in 1920, this was a bold endeavour for a woman at that time. But even then, Sidonie Mühldorfer realised the location’s potential. Its proximity to Bohemia, with its large duck and goose farms, and the fresh, clear mountain spring water of the Bavarian Forest were pivotal for the purity and softness of the bedding from “Mühldorfer bedding company”. After the Second World War, the “Iron Curtain” made life much more difficult for the company. However, her unstinting diligence, ambition and keen business acumen laid the foundations for the company’s success story.

Now in its fifth generation, Mühldorfer has grown to become a global bedding specialist. The family company exports to more than 100 countries, is a market leader in the five-star hotel sector and continues to expand. Mühldorfer exhibits at around 60 trade fairs each year, ensuring it is always close to customers and aware of their requirements – whether in distant countries or closer to home in Bavaria for its numerous private customers.
